  • Vanida Vesuntia, LMFT

    Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Vanida is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in working systemically with individuals, couples, and families. She received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Vanida has experience in both community mental health and private practice settings treating issues of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and trauma. She is passionate about addressing concerns surrounding high conflict relationships, communication, first and second-generation challenges, and complex family dynamics.

Currently, Vanida works as an Adolescent Family Therapist at Compass Health Center where she helps bridge the gap among teenagers and their families during times of crises. She uses warmth, humor, and directness to empower families in creating behavioral changes while exploring the deeper meaning within recurring patterns. Vanida works collaboratively as part of a treatment team consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, education specialists and nurses to provide individualized care to each family.

Compass Health Center provides intensive non-hospital based psychiatric care to individuals and families participating within their Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Compass utilizes evidence-based approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing.

Vanida’s approach is integrative and systemic, tailoring her style of therapy to the unique needs of those she works with while considering the individual, relational, and cultural components of one’s being. Vanida is fluent in Thai and is a culturally sensitive therapist with a deep appreciation in working with people of diverse backgrounds.
