Jennifer Hu, LCSW
Are you going through a season of change? While some of the changes have been positive, it has been difficult to adjust, and you feel disconnected from yourself, your purpose, and those you love most. You might not have the words yet to describe your experiences. You’ve done your best to move forward, but you wonder if things will ever get better.
Therapy can be a source of support and a way to understand yourself better. Therapy is a space to focus on yourself without feeling selfish. You can be your full self and explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals without judgment. We will allow room for all the parts of who you are to be seen and affirmed, even the parts of yourself that you may have distanced yourself from or felt you needed to hide. Together, we will honor your strengths, identify your goals, and examine the thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve you. I believe you are the expert of your own life. It is my hope that, together, we can work towards creating a life that aligns with your values and goals. Even in the most painful seasons, I believe we can access our resilience and strength.
I identify as 1.5 generation Chinese American and grew up in the Christian faith. I am attuned to what it is like to navigate between two or more cultures and the struggle of feeling in-between. I am passionate about helping you navigate themes of identity and exploring how your identities influence the way you see yourself and the world. I understand the challenge of trying to forge your own individual path while balancing cultural and societal pressures of what success looks like. I believe that we are all doing the best we can with what we know and what we have.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends, jogging along the lakeshore, exploring coffee shops, and watching comedy shows.
Taking the first step towards considering therapy can feel daunting. If you're ready to begin the conversation, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey.
