        • Jean Y. Lee, PsyD

          Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I specialize in adult (18 y/o and over) individuals and couples. I work with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) - one of the most effective treatments for trauma of all types. I am also pursuing certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy - one of the best treatment approaches for couples that is rooted in attachment theory.

I was born and raised in Chicagoland, and have lived on both coasts. My Psychology undergraduate degree is from UC Berkeley, where my eyes were opened to the fact that the world is very wide with people of all stripes and colors. I received my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, completed my predoctoral internship at the University of Rochester, and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Delaware. I then spent another 5 years as a staff psychologist at the counseling centers of the University of Delaware and Johns Hopkins University. I returned to Chicago in 2006 and have been in private practice ever since.

My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative. I aim to create a nonjudgmental environment where issues of all kinds can be safely explored and understood. From a place of new understanding, strategies for the present can be discovered, created, and implemented.
