I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, my Master of Arts in Religion from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, and my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
I initially practiced in the fields of foster care, adoption, and geriatrics. Later, I focused on individual, couple, and family therapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and then a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with Meier Clinics in Illinois for over 20 years. Subsequently, I taught in the Marriage and Family Studies program at China Graduate School of Theology, a seminary in Hong Kong, as well as continued my private practice while living abroad for 10 years. I wrote two books (in Chinese) - one on interpersonal boundaries and the other on premarital and marital enrichment, both of which are areas of interest in my clinical practice. Recently, I relocated back to the Chicagoland area, where I have been exploring mental health awareness in the Chinese community and have continued to develop my clinical practice.
In my clinical practice, I conduct individual, couple, and family therapy, which includes addressing teenager self-injury behavior and adult sexual addiction. I am comfortable using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my approach, but augment it with H. Sullivan’s interpersonal theory, that focuses on the use of interpersonal space between the client and therapist to bring forth change.
