Yuqing Cai, LPC

Yuqing is a licensed professional counselor who completed his training in providing therapeutic services to a wide range of individuals between youth aged 8 to adults. He has extensive experience working as a private practice clinician as well as a school counselor, and he is familiar with issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, family complications, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and communication issues. Yuqing enjoys building genuine and collaborative relationships with clients to help them discover their inner strength, find contentment in themselves and their surroundings, and achieve personal growth.

Yuqing is knowledgeable about many therapeutic modalities including Person-Centered, CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Emotion-Focused Trauma Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. He employs an integrative approach in his work to personalize and tailor each treatment plan to the client's personal goals and needs. Yuqing is a firm believer that people have the innate ability to achieve their highest potential with empathy, validation, and support. It is his greatest passion to walk on the same path as the clients, so they do not have to endure the challenges alone.

Yuqing is a bilingual clinician who is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English. He was born and raised in the city of Suzhou until the age of 13. He is aware of the societal oppression and discrimination towards the AAPI community that has been increasing since the breakout of Covid-19, and he is committed to advocating and assisting any AAPI members in need within the Chicago community.

Yuqing graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and obtained his master’s degree from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to his clinical experiences, Yuqing is also an open, outgoing, and humorous person who enjoys hiking, music, and video games.
