  • Mia Kato, MSW

    Clinical Social Worker, Pre-Licensed Clinician

I received my BA in Sociology and Spanish from Seattle University and my MA in Social Work (Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse pathway) from the University of Michigan. I have experience working with adults struggling with life transitions, anxiety/depression, self esteem, mood disorders, and trauma.

I firmly believe that we are all doing our best with the skills, knowledge, and the opportunities we have been given. Sometimes as life throws challenges at us, including transitions, grief and loss, trauma, and changes in our identities and relationships, we realize that our current strategies no longer serve us in meeting our goals. Therapy can provide a space to learn new skills, to feel understood as we navigate difficult times, and to make meaning of our lives.

My hope is that we can create a space where you feel safe and supported to share your story. You are the expert in your own life. As a therapist, I can provide space for your emotions, ask questions that may prompt you to see your experiences differently, and provide you with tools and skills, however, only you can decide what makes sense for you.

To support you, I draw from many modalities including dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed mindfulness. I also use a strengths-based and person-centered approach.
