  • Brian Kong, PsyD

    Licensed Clinical Psychologist

    broken image

Brian obtained his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in both Illinois and Ontario. Beyond his private practice, Brian has provided psychotherapy across various settings in the U.S. and Canada, including university counseling centers, outpatient clinics, and community mental health centers.

In all therapeutic modalities, Brian strives to create a safe space that fosters collaboration and natural conversation between therapist and client. He believes that through these interactions, a meaningful relationship can develop, leading to valuable insights. In his work, Brian helps clients explore their relational patterns both through retelling their stories and through direct therapeutic interactions. These insights allow for a deeper understanding of current challenges and pave the way for meaningful and empowered change.

Brian utilizes a variety of therapeutic styles in his treatment approach, including humanistic, relational, and psychodynamic-based approaches. He also employs emotion-focused therapy when working with couples and cognitive-behavioral-based approaches for addressing symptomatic issues. In addition, Brian believes that art and pop culture can illuminate themes that resonate deeply in therapy. He welcomes the opportunity to incorporate these unifying themes into his therapeutic work.
